Lehen has been Austria Salzburg's home since the club's foundation in 1933. The club was founded by an amalgamation of Hertha Salzburg and Rapid Salzburg. Lehen used to be Rapid Salzburg's native ground. Apart from a few exceptions (after World War II and because of some minor renovation of Lehen) all home games have been played at Lehen stadium. The current stadium was built between 1969 and 1971 and remained unchanged until the winter break of the 1992/93 season. During that time the old "kop" was turned into a seater stand.
